Wiz’s Ami Luttwak on Managing the ‘Speed of AI’ Trade-Off in Security Control
Artificial intelligence has enabled not just developers, but every department – including sales, marketing and even human resources – build applications at scale. The trend has worsened the ratio of developers to security practitioners from 100-to-1 not too long ago to about 1,000-to-1, and this is a growing concern for security leaders, said Ami Luttwak, co-founder and chief technology officer at Wiz.

Luttwak said organizations need to inculcate a spirit of trust between security, development and engineering teams to ensure everyone is on the same track and understands core concerns about data visibility and security. The rapid pace of application development affects visibility and data security.
AI has introduced efficiency and speed at a scale that organizations have not experienced before, and it is becoming harder for security teams to ensure visibility and data security at the speed of AI – considering that they do not have the option to stop business processes for the sake of cybersecurity, he said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSAC Conference 2025, Luttwak also discussed:
- How Wiz has attained leadership in the competitive cloud security space;
- How vendors can meet their customers’ diverse security needs without adding complexity;
- Why visibility is key to secure enterprise applications.
Luttwak has more than 15 years of experience in information security and is an expert in cloud security, spanning infrastructure, networks and application development. Prior to co-founding Wiz, he was the CTO of Adallom, a leading cloud access security broker, prior to its acquisition by Microsoft in 2015. He has been featured as a cybersecurity expert in Forbes.
