Newly Appointed Advisory Group to Support NIS2 and CRA Implementation Across Europe
Beginning Aug. 1, European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, ENISA, will launch a new Advisory Group composed of 26 independent experts to help guide the EU’s cybersecurity strategy through 2027. Their work will support the rollout of the NIS2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act.

Selected from more than 300 applicants, advisory group members serve in a personal capacity rather than on behalf of any country or organization to help validate ENISA reports and initiatives, advise on technical and regulatory issues and strengthening communication with stakeholders across industry, government and civil society. Their experience ranges from threat intelligence and product security to emerging technologies and cyber policy.
“These people with this knowledge are in high demand,” said Florian Pennings, associate COO at ENISA. “This group would allow us, from strategic point of view, to ask, ‘How do you see this challenge, what would be your advice? So to really help us validate what we’re eventually putting out there.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Pennings discussed:
- How the advisory group will support implementation of NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act;
- Challenges posed by a growing cyber skills gap and complex supply chains;
- How ENISA plans to improve private-sector engagement and stakeholder alignment.
Pennings, associate chief of cybersecurity and operational officer at ENISA, recently rejoined the agency to help drive greater impact. Previously, he was director of EU cybersecurity policy at Microsoft and held roles in national and European government agencies. Pennings has helped shape cybersecurity policy at national, EU and global levels and fosters collaboration between public and private sectors.
