Businesses and cyber leaders are under pressure to scale, relying on software-driven innovation, which further expands the attack surface. With no clear game plan, lines can blur and processes get lost. “If you don’t have an outcome that you are pursuing and are doing it just because you think you need to, that can create disarray and confusion,” said PJ Hamlen, worldwide leader for the global partner security initiative at Amazon Web Services.
Despite growing uneasiness in the cyber community, some industry leaders believe this tension may be beneficial.
“You’ve got this healthy tension between threat actors and the geopolitical environment and a business’s desire to grow,” said Julie Bernard, principal for cyber and strategic risk at Deloitte & Touche.
In this video interview with ISMG, Hamlen and Bernard also discussed:
- IoT-based attacks and the growing threat landscape ;
- Maintaining cyber and cloud hygiene;
- Co-developed services between Deloitte and AWS.
Hamlen, who joined AWS in 2022, has over two decades of experience in strategic initiatives. Hamlen is extending AWS innovation to deliver security solutions with strategic partners that help customers achieve cyber resilience.
