The new CEO said using Elevate’s dashboard to rank employees based on risk will allow Mimecast to differentiate controls and improve security measures. Van Zadelhoff also wants to launch new AI and natural language processing tools, expand Mimecast’s presence in non-English speaking markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific, and boost its relationship with managed service providers to fuel engagement (see: Mimecast Appoints Marc van Zadelhoff as New CEO).
“Customers are looking for help in what I’ve been calling the last mile of cybersecurity,” Van Zadelhoff said. “Despite having great firewalls or endpoint protection or application security or identity access management, the employees of the companies are still making mistakes on the platforms, clicking on links, clicking on malicious files, not passing spear-phishing simulations and sharing data they shouldn’t.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Van Zadelhoff also discussed:
- Mimecast’s global expansion efforts, including new offices in Singapore and Toronto;
- The role of AI and machine learning in enhancing security measures;
- Enhanced partnerships with managed service providers to improve service delivery.
Prior to joining Mimecast in January, Van Zadelhoff served as CEO of Devo Technology, a cloud-based logging platform that he led through an intense growth phase in which the company raised $350M and tripled revenues. He also spent time as COO at LogMeIn and was general manager and CEO of IBM Security, an IBM business unit that he co-founded.
