Nevada State Offices Halts Services After Cyber Incident

Nevada state offices suspended some in-person services Monday after a network security incident disrupted local agency systems, officials confirmed.

Emergency services and 911 remained fully operational statewide, but the disruption knocked out access to certain state websites, online portals and office phone lines, according to a release from the governor’s office. The governor’s website was offline at publication time and the state’s media office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The state said the incident continues to affect the availability of some technology systems, according to the Las Vegas Sun, which obtained a copy of the press release. Phone lines may be slow or temporarily unavailable during recovery efforts, though no timeline for restoration has been provided.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of the network security breach or whether the disruptions stemmed from a successful hack. The governor’s office said security teams first detected the incident Sunday morning and immediately launched recovery efforts.

According to the release, the governor’s technology office has deployed temporary routing and operational workarounds to maintain public access where possible, while validating systems before restoring them to normal operation.

The state said there is no evidence that any personally identifiable information was compromised. Officials also emphasized the incident has not affected residents’ home internet or mobile phone services.
