The separation from Raytheon, a business unit of RTX, has provided Washington D.C.-area Nightwing with increased agility and a dedicated focus on its national security mission, particularly around cyber and intelligence services, according to DeSimone. He said Nightwing aims to solidify its independent infrastructure while addressing emerging cyberthreats with both offensive and defensive technologies (see: TPG to Buy Forcepoint’s Government Security Unit for $2.45B).
“We’re layering these things called magnetic AI agents across that architecture to provide the foundation to put AI and multiple types of AI,” he said. “You don’t have to stick with one large language model. You can plug and play and almost commoditize it. We’ve invested in that internally to set our back-office systems up that way to figure out then how to push it toward our customers and their mission needs.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, DeSimone also discussed:
- How embracing a data mesh architecture can help with scalable solutions;
- How to address ever-increasing threats with artificial intelligence and data;
- How to leverage AI offensively and defensively to handle adversarial tactics.
DeSimone previously led the cybersecurity, intelligence and Service strategic business unit at Raytheon. Before joining Raytheon in 2016, DeSimone served as executive vice president of delivery and operations at CSRA. He previously served as vice president and general manager of CSC’s North American Public Sector Enterprise Services group, where he led strategy, planning and execution of the group’s growth initiatives.
