CFP Board Members Discuss AI, Hardware Access and Emerging Trends for Nullcon 2025
Cybersecurity research submissions for the Nullcon 2025 Call for Papers Review Board reflect prominent trends and challenges in the field, with artificial intelligence becoming the central theme. Nullcon CFP Review Board members Anant Shrivastava and Neelu Tripathi noted a growing focus on supply chain and applied security, especially in defense and security engineering.

“People have slowly started to realize that the software we work on has to be coupled with hardware, and the actual impact is the combination of software and hardware,” Shrivastava said. “That is where the whole supply chain discussion is taking prominence. People are now starting to realize that it’s not just a piece of code that someone writes and is running.”
“The challenge we see in the industry is that, as technology is always advancing, research in one specific area is not persistent,” Tripathi said. “Many teams end up doing the research, but there are many others who get distracted by more ‘attractive’ kinds of technologies such as AI, or whatever is new in the market. It’s a good challenge to have.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Shrivastava and Tripathi also discussed:
- The challenges of hardware access and its impact on regional cybersecurity research;
- The balance between AI innovation and addressing emerging global security trends;
- CFP selection criteria and the focus on originality, technical depth and potential audience impact.
