Andrea Isoni of AI Technologies on Certifications, Deepfakes and ISO 42001
ArtificiaI intelligence misuse – from deepfakes to cyber incidents – continues to outpace regulation. Andrea Isoni, chief AI officer at AI Technologies, advocates for stronger cyber laws to prevent AI misuse. “You’re going to be doing a lot more than you used to do today,” he said. “Criminals are usually ahead of any technology … it’s a never-ending battle with catching up.”

While the EU AI Act strengthens regulatory frameworks, with critical deadlines approaching in August 2026, Isoni said legislative efforts alone cannot solve the fundamental challenge. The speed of AI deployment consistently outpaces security advancements, creating dangerous gaps in protection.
Effective AI security requires risk-based prioritization. With every organization constrained by limited budgets, organizations must identify their highest-risk exposures first.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Infosecurity Europe 2025, Isoni also discussed:
- How ISO 42001 certification can support AI risk management and compliance;
- His role at AI Technologies and approach to managing AI projects for clients;
- How the OECD AI Monitor Index tracks incident patterns and correlations with major AI releases.
At AI Technologies, Isoni focuses on advancing AI solutions. He advises Wa’ed Ventures and is a former AI advisor of various funds including Antler Venture Capital and Capital Enterprise. He is a committee member for IEEE and is an AI advisor at ISO. Isoni is the author of the book “Machine Learning for the Web.”
