Demo-Force’s Chase Cunningham Says AI’s Promise Is Operational, Not Product-Based
The cybersecurity industry is at risk of missing artificial intelligence’s most profound benefits by fixating on productization rather than transformation. Chase Cunningham, chief strategy officer at Demo-Force.com, said AI should be seen as a game-changing force capable of reshaping how organizations operate – not just another feature in a product suite.

Companies are rushing to build and sell AI-powered solutions, but Cunningham said this mindset mirrors past technology hype cycles such as the internet and cloud in which strategic value became overshadowed by sales goals. He compared AI’s transformative capacity to the role of the wheel and fire in human progress, calling it foundational to the next generation of problem-solving.
“If we keep wrapping it around, how do we sell stuff with AI, we’re going to lose the actual value prop. It’s way bigger than we’re giving it credit. Speed and scale is through the roof,” Cunningham said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, Cunningham also discussed:
- How AI can help democratize zero trust adoption globally;
- His new books, including one aimed at helping marketers position zero trust effectively;
- How flawed hiring practices leave skilled professionals sidelined.
Cunningham has more than two decades of experience in cyber forensics and analytics operations and has expertise in driving market innovation, strategic partnerships and growth initiatives. Previously, he was a chief strategy officer at Ericom Software and vice president and principal analyst at Forrester. He has also held senior security and analyst roles at the NSA, CIA, FBI and other government agencies.
