IBM: Security Leaders Should Assess Supplier Adoption of Quantum-Safe Cryptography
Companies should evaluate whether vendors responsible for identity, secrets management, encryption and other security infrastructure are adopting quantum-safe technologies, said IBM’s Suja Viswesan.

IBM’s own CISO organization focused on securing the company’s perimeter, evaluating supply-chain dependencies and ensuring products are updated to support quantum-safe cryptography before addressing application-level changes, she said. Critical infrastructure, telecom providers and security products that rely heavily on cryptography need to adopt post-quantum algorithms before many others, she said (see: Why Agentic AI Security Must Be Baked In – Not Bolted On).
“The reason why they are stuck is getting overwhelmed with the amount of discovery that they get,” Viswesan said. “Getting to that next line where we are helping you put the business context and prioritize it, then it becomes a biteable chunk, rather than you’re just like, ‘I don’t know what to do, where to begin.'”
